# Extended search in Notes field

Hello there !

Is there a plan to extend the search for results found in the Notes for the entries ?  
This would be great after importing many entries from the older password manager !

We would love to have this feature as well! Or at least be able to import directly to the “description” field, because that one is searchable (though not encrypted). Best case would be an encrypted field which is indexed in the search (which might be impossible because of the E2E encryption..).

Hello,

In passbolt V5, “notes” (previously called description in v4) are encrypted and part of the secret (not searchable). In v5 the description is part of the metadata and searchable.

Hello remy

Yes, but like the support told me, if you want to import something, for example via KDBX (to keep my hierarchical structure), there’s no possibility to import into the searchable description field, only into the notes which isn’t searchable. That’s what we meant. 🙂

Hello,

I do not understand the solution to have an “encrypted and unsearchable Note” OR a “non encrypted and searchable comment”.  
The easier way could be both fields, then users can have “secret notes” AND “searchable comments”.
