**IMPORTANT** : PHP 8.2 or higher is required for passbolt version 5!

The passbolt version 5 major release is coming soon, bringing an upgraded dependency stack that requires PHP \>= 8.2 that boosts performance, reliability, and security. In other words: To run passbolt v5, your server environment must have at least PHP 8.2 installed.

To assist those who self-host passbolt, we have prepared a blog post detailing the upgrade process from version 4 to version 5, which is linked below.

This blog post includes a quick-reference table that shows which distributions are already PHP 8.2-ready and which require migration or an OS update. Furthermore, it discusses some of the migration strategies available. Step-by-step guides are also included for installing PHP 8.2 or higher on older Red Hat family distributions and older Debian-like distributions.
