Hello @Moustache78 and welcome to the forum!

To understand a bit better where/when this crash happens, could you detail the process you followed?

  • Did you ever saw the app started?
  • Did you have already imported an account kit in the software?
  • Where you able to sign in to a passbolt account using the desktop app?
  • when you launch the application, does it crash immediately?

I’m trying to identify where and when this happens. I have doubt about the reasons as we saw some similar issues already.
When it happened, users usually were able to do the account import process and it crashes afterward. And we launching the app again, it crashes immediately as well.

The reason was the passbolt server’s certificate that was self-signed and not trusted by the Windows OS which runs the passbolt app that crashes.

If you have a self-signed certificate you can go on any passbolt webpage of your passbolt server and from the URL bar, you should be able to view the certificate and download it (it will be most probably a .cer file).

Double click on that file and install the certificate on your OS:
→ select “local machine”
→ after that choose to place manually the certificate in a specific store
→ browse the stores displayed and choose “Trusted Root Certificate Authorities”
→ Finish the certificate procedure and you should be okay

I’m not 100% sure, it’s the certificate of course as it depends on the details of your issue you will provide us with.

Hope it helps

Okay, so it’s most probably a problem with your SSL certificate.

Do you use your passbolt server via HTTP or HTTPS? HTTP is not compatible with the windows app.

If you’re using HTTPS, then, I suppose you have a self signed certificate and your OS doesn’t trust it yet. That would cause this error.

To simply check if you server certificate is trusted, you can simply use a browser of your choice and go on a page of your passbolt instance and see in the address bar if the site is considered secure or not.
In your situation, I bet it’s not considered secure.

You can follow the describe procedure earlier to make the certificate trusted on your OS.
