As an administrator, I would like to be able to create templates for resources

Hello !

Q1. What is the problem that you are trying to solve?
I would like to use Passbolt as a vault for a team working in an IT environment. We store resources in the vault that are a little out of the ordinary, such as Bitlocker encryption keys for our Windows users’ workstations. So, since the arrival of “Custom Fields” (thank you for that), I would like to be able to create a new custom resource from them.

Q2 - Who is impacted?
I suppose this feature could be of interest to many people since it could be customized in multiple contexts.

Q3 - Why is it important and/or urgent?
The arrival of custom fields is really great, but it’s extremely redundant to have to create them systematically when adding a new resource. The idea is also to have consistency in the naming of keys/values.

Q4 - What is your proposed solution? (optional)
From the Passbolt administration interface, there should be a “Resource Management” menu where you can:

  • Create a new custom resource
  • Assign it a default color and icon
  • Name this new resource
  • Create a multitude of “key/value” pairs to fill in
  • Possibly add additional content, including future content (SSH keys, files, etc.)

Once created, the custom resource would be accessible from the user menu in: “Create” > ‘Others’ > “My new custom resource,” and all that would be left to do is fill in the values for the custom fields.

Q5. Community support
People can vote for this idea to show traction:

  • :ok_woman: Must have: this is critical for me to have this
  • :raising_hand_woman: Should have: this is important for me to have this
  • :tipping_hand_woman: Could have: this could be nice to have
  • :no_good_woman: Won’t have: we should not schedule this (explain why)
