Q1. What is the problem that you are trying to solve?
Quite often an entry will apply to more than one website. Additional URLs handles this, but the experience is a bit clunky from the browser extension. A site without an additional URL has to be searched for, which is fine once, but becomes annoying every time.
Q2 - Who is impacted?
Impacts anyone that has entries of which its credentials span across multiple sites.
Q3 - Why is it important and/or urgent?
From a usability perspective in a team setting it’s quite a side quest for a person in their working day to select an entry then intentionally open up the full Passbolt UI to find the entry again and copy in an additional URL.
People just won’t do this after they’ve already been slowed down needing to search for that entry once in the extension.
Q4 - What is your proposed solution? (optional)
When displaying an individual entry from the search results, the “Use on this page” button could have an option either as another button or a tick box, which would add the current site or page URL to the entry’s additional URLs:
I’m not sure what would work best UI wise, but I expect this would be either:
- Split the button in 2 horizontally, text would need to shorten to “Use once” and “Use & remember” (the buttons should probably in different colours)
- A tick box underneath the button “Remember this page as an additional URL”
Q5. Community support
People can vote for this idea to show traction:
Must have: this is critical for me to have this
Should have: this is important for me to have this
Could have: this could be nice to have
Won’t have: we should not schedule this (explain why)
