Hello Passbolt team. I am experiencing consistent tab crashes in Firefox when visiting websites containing video players (such as YouTube or Netflix). After extensive troubleshooting, I have isolated the issue to the Passbolt browser extension.
Environment:
-
OS: Debian 13
-
Browser: Firefox 140.14.0esr
-
Passbolt Extension Version: 5.15.0
-
Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Mobile (Proprietary drivers)
Steps to Reproduce:
-
Enable the Passbolt extension in Firefox.
-
Navigate to any YouTube video URL.
-
The tab crashes immediately, displaying the “Gah. Your tab just crashed.” error page.
Error Logs:
Running Firefox from the terminal shows the following error when the crash occurs:
[Parent 15960, IPC I/O Parent] WARNING: process 16218 exited on signal 11: file ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/process_watcher_posix_sigchld.cc:134
Troubleshooting Performed:
-
Disabled hardware acceleration (VA-API/Intel/NVIDIA drivers): The crash still occurred.
-
Created a completely new Firefox profile: No crashes.
-
Disabled all extensions in the main profile and re-enabled them one by one: The crash only happens when the Passbolt extension is enabled. Disabling Passbolt immediately stops the crashes on video sites.
Thank you for looking into this!
