Edge extension/MV3?

We noticed this warning on the MS Edge extension page: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/passbolt-open-source-pa/ljeppgjhohmhpbdhjjjbiflabdgfkhpo

“This extension no longer meets Microsoft Edge standards and may be removed soon. Learn more”

Yikes! I thought Passbolt was already running on MV3 as of some time ago. Does anyone know what is going on? We use Passbolt in Edge all over the place- removal would be mega bad.

Hi @brywhi, thanks for raising this. It’s definitely on our radar, and we agree the banner sounds more alarming than it needs to.

It indeed refers to Microsoft’s transition from Manifest V2 to Manifest V3. We’re planning to release our MV3 extension around October (MV3 is already available on Chrome obviously). According to Microsoft’s own published timeline, MV2 updates are still accepted, the consumer transition runs through the end of 2026, and enterprise deprecation begins in early 2027.

We’ll update this thread as the MV3 release progresses, and if Microsoft changes the listing.

Hi @remy - fantastic! Thanks for the update. Happy to help with testing, etc.

Hi.
We use Passbolt since September in my Company.
Right now no user can use the extension for edge.
Which is apperently our standard browser.

After signin in the users getting this information:

So since today edge doesnt support the passbolt extension anymore.

What is the plan right now from your side?
When will be the update of the extension available?

Hi everyone,

Good news: the Passbolt extension for Microsoft Edge is now live on Manifest V3! :tada:

Thanks to everyone who helped with development, testing, and review. If you notice anything unusual on Edge, please report it so we can look into it quickly.
