Import functionality not working on instances without E2EE enabled (include passbolt cloud) [DONE]

Hello everyone,

We’ve identified an issue in the Passbolt Browser Extension 5.4.0 affecting the import resources functionality in certain environments.

Summary of the Problem

In version 5.4.0 of the browser extension, the Import resources action is not functioning when End-to-End Encrypted (E2EE) metadata is not enabled.
When attempting to import resources, clicking Create > Import resources results in no action being triggered — nothing happens in the UI.

Who Is Impacted

  • Passbolt Cloud: All workspaces are affected.
  • Passbolt PRO/CE: Only instances with E2EE metadata disabled are affected.

On-premise instances with E2EE metadata enabled are not affected.

Current Status

Our engineering team is actively investigating the root cause and preparing a fix. We will update this thread as soon as a patch is available.

Workarounds

Currently, there is no direct workaround for Cloud users.
On-premise users can enable E2EE metadata if possible, but we recommend waiting for the official fix.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work on resolving this issue.

Update: browser extension packages are in review for chrome and edge. Firefox is going to take some more time, as the previous version 5.4.0 was not approved yet.

Fixed with Chrome and Edge v5.4.1 browser extension.
No change for Firefox, still awaiting v5.4.0 review.

Firefox 5.4.1 has been published, and the incident is now considered closed
