Issue when converting Notes to description

Good Morning,

We have just upgraded to v5 (5.0.0 CE Version), and when we try to convert a note to description, to make it searchable

It changes the password field to this string:
{“password”:“12345678”,“description”:“testing”}

Could you please let me know how to solve this?

Many thanks!!

Hello guys :slight_smile:

Thanks for reporting this, it’s actually a bug, and it shouldn’t behave like that. Initially, we kept the conversion feature just as how it was in v4 when switching from encrypted description to unencrypted description, but with v5 the idea was to introduce new content types. These upcoming content types will let you have both an encrypted description (secure note) and a searchable description in a near future, so there’ll be no need to convert one into the other anymore.

This will be removed soon, and a fix is already on the way. The team is actively working on it! :rocket:

Some of our entries are set as ‘descriptions’ others ‘Notes’, have these been converted automatically? or is this part of the update? do we have convert each entry?

Hello. There was no automatic conversions. You do not need to convert anything at the moment. The option to downgrade from a note (previously called encrypted description) to a description (unencrypted description) shouldn’t be there on the edit screen for v4 resources, it will be removed in the next browser extension release. Sorry for the confusion.

Another issue is that the Notes when displayed on the right when using the “i” icon and clicking ‘Show’ are displayed without any formatting versus ‘Description’ which maintain the formatting such as spaces and blank lines e.g.
