Hello everyone
,
Dropbox has recently announced that their in-house password manager, Dropbox Passwords, will be discontinued on the 28th of October 2025 (cf. Dropbox Passwords discontinuation).
If you feel tempted to try and maybe even switch to Passbolt as your new password manager, we are more than happy to welcome you! But first, you’ll need to do a little bit of editing before being able to import your data into your Passbolt account.
Here’s how to do that:
- Export your current password from your Dropbox Password space, following Dropbox’s documentation
- Open the newly downloaded CSV file in a spreadsheet software or a plain old file editor (such as vim, Visual Studio Code, nano, etc.)
- On the first line of said file, rename the following fields (mind the lack of capitalization in the field names) to ones that Passbolt can understand:
title
namewebsite
login_urilogin
login_usernamepassword
login_passwordotpSecret
login_totp
- Now that the CSV file has been translated, you can save it, making sure to do so as a CSV file
- Open your Passbolt interface and click on the little arrow pointing up in the top left corner
- Select your edited CSV file
- Click Import
- And voilà, your resources should have been imported in Passbolt !

Of course, if you encounter any issue when importing your resources, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread so that we can take a look at it (and please make sure to include the full error message in your reply if applicable) ![]()
Wishing you all a great weekend,
Best regards,
Louis
