5.1.0 ~ Four To The Floor
Release date: 15 May, 2025
Passbolt 5.1.0 is released today.
This release adds support for encrypted resource metadata features as an opt-in feature. Encrypted resource metadata means that contextual information such as names, login URLs, and similar fields, now enjoys the same cryptographic protection as your passwords.
Early adopters can enable the feature, put it through real‑world workflows and share feedback, while more cautious teams (or those with custom integrations) can wait until the stable rollout planned for 5.2. A blog article detailing a step-by-step on how to enable the feature and start testing will be available soon.
Additionally, the password expiry feature is now enabled by default for new installations. This capability is considered a security best practice, helping organizations enforce rotation policies and mitigate risks associated with long-lived shared credentials.
This version also includes several bug fixes and performance enhancements, like a faster folder tree that handles 5,000+ folders without freezing your browser.
A special thanks to the CakePHP maintainers for the fast post v5 upgrade support!
