Offline installation - community and pro

Hi,

I would like to know if an offline installation is possible (for community and pro versions).
I searched on the passbolt forum and google and i only found two topics about it with no or not very clear answers.
Some context : i work in a environnement with no internet connection.
First, we would like to try the community edition and if the product suits our needs, go for the pro edition.
Target OS : almalinux 8.

Hello @account90 and welcome to the forum.
You can use Passbolt offline as the internet is only necessary to check if passwords are exposed in a data breach or to allow you to check your passwords from anywhere.
If you want to use it in an offline environment, that’s fine, but I would recommend having an internal DNS server to help your users find Passbolt without manually setting the IP and domain on your hosts.
To keep that in mind, remember that users must be able to access the server and that you can use mobile apps if they can also access the server (for example, a Wi-Fi network within the offline environment or a route to it).
If you have any questions you are welcome to ask again!

Hello @Termindiego25,
Thank you for your quick answer.
I’m gonna try an offline install of the community edition.
Do i have to strictly use the same packages versions (for the dependencies) as the ones downloaded by the install script (PHP / PostgreSQL) ?
Or is there minimal requirements (example : all PHP versions above this one are OK) ?

Hello, you should check the documentation Install Passbolt API from source | Passbolt documentation.

Also, for security reasons, it is better to have the latest version of the packages used.

Hi,
Thanks for the link.
I’m gonna try two types of installation :

  • download all the packages needed by the install script on a server with internet access then copy and install them on a server without internet connection
  • install the dependencies with the versions already available in current repo (if they match the minimum requirements listed in the documentation) and then install passbolt

Tanks for the help.
