In our company, we’re trying to integrate Passbolt, but our system is set up in such a way that every time a user reboots their computer, the Chrome extension is automatically reinstalled. Due to this reinstallation, Passbolt always starts in Account Recovery mode. Is there any way to disable this so it doesn’t trigger automatically?
Hello @Azentione and welcome to the forum!
If you reinstall an extension, the normal behavior is to lose all your data and start from scratch, so in short, it wouldn’t be possible to do so.
If I recall correctly, when the Passbolt extension detects certain changes in the connection to the server, it’s necessary to initiate the recovery process for security reasons, to prevent MITM attacks, for example.
Additionally, when new connections are detected from a new device or browser, the key is required to decrypt the passwords, so the recovery process is necessary again.
This is why if you reinstall the extensions every time you shut down your computer, you can’t avoid the recovery process.
You’d have to see if there’s a way to exclude the Passbolt extension from reinstalling it and still retain the data.
You may be able to use the Windows app (assuming you’re using Windows and it hasn’t been removed as well), but I don’t know if there’s any other workaround to fix this.
