Support for iPhone / iOS users

Is there any path for iPhone / iOS users who don’t also have a desktop computer to use Passbolt? Two of our users now have indicated that they can’t get Passbolt working because they are iPhone users that don’t have a desktop computer.

Is there any path for these users to be able to use our Passbolt installation, or is it a known issue that this use case isn’t covered by Passbolt?

Hi @gene

I am assuming that you know about the Passbolt iOS app.

I guess, I would have them remote into a computer at work from their phone browser.

The Passbolt developers follow the community forum and there might be a way.

Right. My understanding is that to use this app you need to also have a desktop browser extension installation, and you can’t just use the iOS app by itself. Is that correct?

I’m not sure I understand.

From my understanding if the admin sets up the user account, then the app (iOS, Android) should work. I am just a CE user with two users and have not had this issue. If I set up a new user, that user can use the app.

If you have a remote employee wanting to use self-registration and that employee does not have access to any computer but has an iPhone. The employee can remote connect to a computer at your office with Remote Desktop and then do the the self-registration process.

Hmm, ya, I’m the admin and I’ve setup the user account (which sends an invite to the user’s email address) but the user reports that when they go to setup their account on the app it says they have to first install the passbolt browser extension on a desktop computer, set up their account there, and then link their mobile app to that desktop installation.

Ya, I’m also running Passbolt CE. Did either of your two users have an iPhone with the Passbolt app and didn’t have a desktop computer with the browser + extension installed?

Oh I understand what you’re saying. Ya we have no office, nor any computers so I guess we’re out of luck for that path.

I’m mainly just trying to determine if the challenge I’m encountering is a known behavior of Passbolt or if I’m overlooking something and an iPhone mobile app user that has no desktop computer should be able to use Passbolt.

that is how it works.

They both used the browser extension before using the iOS app.

I believe you need to setup with the extension.

If there is another way, a community member or developer will post a better answer.
