Accessing or assigning passwords of ex-users

Suppose a user from our organization resigns and there are some critical passwords that the user has only access . Is there any way to access his passwords?

I saw an old post regarding the same issue : https://community.passbolt.com/t/access-ex-user-passwords/546
In this it was mentioned that this will be introduced in near future as a feature. Is it available now?

Hi @sairaj,

With the community edition, there is not much that you can do. But with the PRO version, we introduced in 2021 an account recovery feature, where you can choose (and potentially you users too) via a policy, to share the PK of the users with the server encrypted with a organisation recovery key (RSA 4096bits).
So in the even of:

  • A user loosing their PK on a new browser/computer
  • A user forgetting the passphrase
  • A user leaving the organisation without sharing any of the two (PK and passphrase)

You will be able to solve those scenarii. More information here
and here .

Feel free to contact us for more information.

Best

Using community edition, I am using a pseudo work around. I have a user called backup and tell everyone to share all passwords with the backup user for recovery purposes. Not as good as the paid solution, but reasonable for small business.
