Q1. What is the enhancement required?
We would like to have the Biometry Support (Face or Fingerprint)
We would not have to write password each time and it will add one more security layer.
Q2 - Who is impacted?
All users are impacted, I mean security and user experience.
Q3 - Why is it important and/or urgent?
For Quality & Security, today passbolt can remember your passphrase until you log out.
Hmm…
It would be great to add one layer of security with biometry
Unlock the vault with strong password,
Provide your biometry to fill the required password.
Q4 - What is your proposed solution?
On Mac using Touch ID, Face ID. And Windows using Hello Fingerprint, Hello Face.
Hello, can you use the template for your feature requests? The template should be there when you click create a topic in the backlog category? This ensure all the feature requests are standardised / can be voted on.
This is important, especially now that prices are rising. I am looking at the competition and every modern passwort manager supports, for example, fingerprint ID on macbook. Much more convenient. If you consider this important as well please write something in here so they notice.
@Jojojo, This topic is among the top 3 most viewed feature requests.
It will likely come with the Desktop application.
But the way might be a long journey, we need to be patient.
We’re all eagerly waiting for an update, to see progress!
This is a big one.
I use Bitwarden for personal use on my work PC and their “unlock with biometrics” setting works great with Windows Hello Face ID.
Repeatedly typing in a passphrase is a hassle and a blocker for adoption, especially with non-techies at the office. They make bad passphrases and/or leave a good passphrase written down on their desk.
Honestly, in my testing of Passbolt I’ve found myself saving it on a virtual sticky note so I can simply copy/paste, making the whole process less of a hassle.
I’m waiting for Google to make their Chrome-based password manager a Workspace feature.
If/when that happens, that’ll make life tough for competitors.
So I hope folks at Passbolt keep up and keep their product worth considering vs others.
