Q1. What is the problem that you are trying to solve?
Groups helps organizing the resources but it is not enough. People need another way to classify their data.
Q2 - Who is impacted?
Everybody, especially people with a lot of passwords.
Q3 - Why is it important and/or urgent?
This will improve ease of use and increase adoption.
Q4 - What is your proposed solution? (optional)
See the options proposed: https://medium.com/passbolt/tags-functionality-b7f70786a0c4
Original request: ref. https://github.com/passbolt/passbolt_api/issues/30
-
Option 1. My tags are only set and seen by me
Pro: Snarky tagging systems
Con: Zero collaborative benefit -
Option 2. Tags are set by the password owner (or people who can edit)
Pro: Consistency with tags for certain people
Con: Inconsistencies with understandings of tags -
Option 3. The taxonomy is defined by the admin and tags are set by the owner (or people who can edit)
Pro: Consistency with tags for everyone and hilariously long taxonomy development times
Con: Disagreement amongst colleagues as to the usefulness of the taxonomy -
Option 4. A combination of some of these options, e.g both personal and shared tags.
Pro: Flexibility, which means it will be more useful
Con: More complex, which means it will take us longer to build -
Option 5. I can’t believe you did not think of this
If you have an idea of how to integrate a tagging system into passbolt that you feel was not covered by the above 4 options, please choose this and then reply to the thread with your ideas!
