AWS IAM Login Accurate Autofill

As a user, I want AWS IAM login forms to fill correctly

Q1. What is the problem that you are trying to solve?

The login to the AWS console (as an IAM user) is used by possibly everyone in software. Currently, Passbolt, when auto filling from the extension widget in the upper right, will place the username in the ‘Account ID’ input.

AWS Console Login

Q2 - Who is impacted?
Everyone who uses AWS and Passbolt.

Q3 - Why is it important and/or urgent?

This can be mildly frustrating, as you then have to go and find your Account ID again, or ctrl+z and start over, but this time using the input box Passbolt widget - it’s a distraction in the process of navigating to where you want to get to in the AWS Console.

This links to “As a user the passbolt extension can auto-fill my passwords in forms” for an improvement to the implementation.

Q4 - What is your proposed solution? (optional)
Goal: Passbolt places username correctly in IAM username input box.

Q5. Community support
People can vote for this idea to show traction:

  • :raising_hand_woman: Should have: this is important for me to have this
  • :tipping_hand_woman: Could have: this could be nice to have
  • :no_good_woman: Won’t have: we should not schedule this (explain why)

Hey @Xanph,

Could you please confirm the version of the Passbolt browser extension you are currently using?
I am using AWS, I know we had this issue by the past but it should have been fix and in fact it’s working as you’re expecting it to on my side.

Cheers,
Gérold.
